Barry Chan
Physiotherapist
Barry graduated from the University of Sydney in 2012 with a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy. Prior to this, he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Exercise Science from the University of New South Wales.
Barry has recently moved back to Sydney from the UK where he worked full time in professional rugby (Dragons Rugby) and in high performance sport (Cardiff Metropolitan University). Prior to this, Barry was working in professional rugby (NSW Waratahs) in Australia as well as in a multi-disciplinary Sports Medicine clinic in Sydney where he collaborated with orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, paediatric physicians, podiatrists, psychologists, massage therapists, and exercise physiologists to achieve a common goal in helping a patient return to normal activity.
Barry has a keen interest in treating tendon pathologies, which has led him to do expert online consultations for complex Achilles Tendon patients.
Barry’s background in Exercise Science has led him to be a strong believer in patient-focused exercise rehabilitation. This means that along with dry needling and manuaI therapy, Barry strives to alleviate pain through the use of strength and mobility exercises. ‘Movement is medicine’ is a mantra that he swears by.
