Menai District Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre, Illawong NSW 2234

Our Core and Strength Mat classes aim to improve physical well-being by focusing on correct strength, flexibility, control and muscle activation patterns.

At Menai District Physiotherapy, our approach to our classes is different to your pilates often seen at the local gym or pilates studio. Our approach is founded on an evidence-based model to improve central core control, with a focus on correct muscle activation. Over time, this will lead to improved function and posture alignment, which can help to reduce your aches and pains as well as minimise the risk of future injury.

Our mat work classes are conducted on a dense foam mat whereby you can utilise your own body weight. Mat work classes offer enormous freedom in being able to enjoy flowing movements but always at your own pace. We also incorporate a range of equipment such as theraband, hand weights and swiss balls within the classes.

To ensure that you have optimal activation and the exercises in the classes are individualised to your needs, we require all participants to have an assessment and activation workshop (combined) with our Accredited Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist before entering a class.
